Brian Niven

Brian Niven is an Investigator with VBI. Before accepting his position at VBI, Niven worked for over seven years at the Denver Police Department. Niven also worked as an EMT for Rural Metro, American Medical Response, and Platte Canyon Rescue.

As a Denver Police Officer, Niven worked as a trained patrol officer in the gang unit and was selected for a specialized unit that focused primarily on community-policing and narcotics matters. In that capacity, Niven investigated narcotics complaints and other complex criminal matters. He is adept at locating witnesses, conducting interviews, preparing reports, and analyzing crimes scenes and evidence. Niven also has vast knowledge of surveillance techniques. During his time with the Denver Police Department, Niven received several prestigious awards- including Officer of the Year in 2009- and multiple tactical and investigative awards.

A native of Denver, Niven spent a year at The Hebrew University in Jerusalem after high school, where he studied Israeli culture and politics. Upon his return to the United States, Niven continued his studies in Political Science at the University of Maryland. Niven has an A.A.S. in Paralegal Studies from Arapahoe Community College.

Niven believes that every person accused of a crime should be able to present a well prepared defense. His law enforcement training and knowledge of police procedures give him valuable insights as how to achieve that goal.

Niven is licensed as a Private Investigator II for the State of Colorado and is approved as an Investigator for the Office of Alternate Defense Counsel.
